Helmet Fitting Guide for Skiing
Five tips to get a proper fit
- Go to the effort of measuring your head size with a tape measure.Get a pen and paper.Measure the head by holding the measuring tape around the head, above the ears and just above the eyebrows.Note the measurement. The measurement will be the helmut size.
- If you’re fitting the helmet put it on. The helmet used in skiing or snowboarding covers more of the back of the head since most accidents involve backward falls. The front rim should be quite low,but above the eyebrows. You must allow space to fit your goggles. Now try to push the helmut off your head while still strappd on.If it pulls the eyelids up a little as you push it back,it’s pretty much the right fit.Move your head around. It should not make contact with the nape of your neck.
- The padding of the helmut should hug the cheeks and forehead.
- The helmet should feel comfortable and snug.
- Only 1 finger should fit between your chin and the fastened straps.
Please Not: For a child, do not buy a large one thinking he/she will grow into it.
Wanting To Buy Online
If you’re wanting to buy online make sure there’s a good return policy in case you have to get a different shape to achieve the right fit. Ski helmets generally come in three sizes with fillers to customize the fit and shape of the head.Remember ,the helmet should be quite snug.
