How does the spring in ski bindings work?
I heard ski bindings work by using a spring. How does this work?
There are springs in the toe and heel bindings. Depending on your weight, ability and the type of skiing you do depends on what DIN(don’t ask, cant remember) setting you have.
They are designed to release the boot in the event of a fall, thus saving you from a more serious injury.
The rental or ski shop will be able to set your bindings to the correct setting… unless you really know what your doing, leave them alone!
Too loose and they will release when you don’t want them to, too tight and they wont release when you need them to.
The toe binding tends to release laterally, ie sideways… if you slap your ski on its edge, the toe should release, the heal binding tends to release forward.

Just starting to ski/snowboard. What type of pants should I get and does it make a difference?
3 parts to my question.
1) Is the a functional difference between ski and snowboard pants?
2) Which kind should I buy as a beginner who will be engaged in both activities?
3) Any recommended brands or places to shop?
1) Pretty sure theres no differents, some snowpants are MADE for snowboarding though, like I have a brand called special blend, and they have things for snowboarding threwout the pants.
2) make sure you can bend, fall in them, when I try mine on i bend and fall backwards in the store and see if its good, because you will be falling alot, extra room in the bum for the falling .
3) RonJon surf shop, they have all snowboarding stuff. I recommend special blend, I really like my snowpants .

Difference between mens and womens boots?
Hi, I was planning on buying a new pair of boots, but the ones I want only have mens sizes left. I know that the womens and mens sizing is slightly different but I was wondering if the boots look different?? BTW they are Dublin Advance Jodhpur boots mens size 6.5.

Men’s boots tend to be a bit more generous in the width and skinnier in the leg ( if they are long boots) Also some men’s boots can be oddly shaped – no idea why ( maybe men have weird feet !) But try them and see how they fit – no one is going to notice and if they fit then that is the main thing.
