This was a scene of part of the Olympic Ceremonies.Coming down Hastings Street,Vancouver,Arnold Schwarzenegger carried the Olympic Torch.
As a matter of interest ,there was a problem with The Anti Olympic Convergence Group who were totall anti the Winter Olympics and The Ceremonies.Yeah,we got an email lining out their plan to disrupt the whole ceremonies proccession.I’ll just check the email now and give you some of the run down….
Here it is. It read…
” No Olympic Torch !” then went on to read…..”Celebrate our strength, creativity, and diversity. Bring signs, puppets,
noisemakers, instruments. Play some street hockey!”
There was some other stuff but I won’t spoil your day. Then another email that suggested….”form a rally and rush the procession…..”
I wonder what Arnold Schwarzenegger would have done. The Terminator….aaagh..
Sorry Guys . But I love the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.What a rush ! !

Buble was among the last to carry the flame Thursday night before it lit a mini-cauldron in downtown Vancouver, a signal that the Games are ever so close to the much-anticipated opening ceremony on Friday.
“It always made me really proud… . It’s emotional, I’m shaking. I mean, I’ve got goosebumps and I’m a guy who doesn’t get nervous for a lot of things. I don’t get overexcited by too much but it’s going to be hard to sleep tonight.”

Luge – Track shortened after fatal crash
Follow up of the tragic loss of Kumaritashvili. Just thought I would put this on for all of our subscribers just in case you missed out on the updates.
Reuters – February 14, 2010, 8:11 am
By Alan Baldwin WHISTLER, Feb 13 (Reuters) – Olympic organisers shortened the luge track for both men and women as an extra safety precaution on Saturday, a day after a Georgian slider died in training.
Training resumed at the Sliding Centre with the men completing two full runs from what had been the women’s start, and organisers said the women and doubles events would begin even further down the track.
The measures were taken after 21-year-old Nodar Kumaritashvili, a first-time Olympian, was catapulted off the track in Friday’s fatal crash.
Organisers have since raised the walls at the exit of curve 16 where he died and changed the ice profile as preventative measures, despite concluding that there was no indication the accident was caused by any deficiency in the track.
The men’s medals will be decided on Sunday.
”The jury has made a decision to lower the men’s competition start to the current women’s start,” FIL (International Luge Federation) secretary general Svein Romstad told a news conference.
”Also the technical delegates and jury are currently working with the track management to adjust the women’s and doubles starts as a precautionary measure,” he said. They later decided to move them to the junior start level.
EMOTIONAL REASONS
Romstad said the decision had been taken primarily for emotional reasons, to reassure the shaken sliders after the tragic event.
”The primary concern we have right now is the emotional aspect of it,” he added, pointing out that the difference in speeds reached by the men and women from their respective starts was around 10kph.
An FIL spokesman said the competitors would now no longer have to negotiate two corners and the steepest part of the track as a result of the start switch.
Kumaritashvili’s team mate Levan Gureshidze was among those due to resume training but he missed both runs and it was not immediately clear whether he would have any further involvement in the competition.
The Whistler Sliding Centre is acknowledged as the fastest in the world, although an FIL spokesman said on Friday there had been 2,500 runs and only a three percent crash rate.
However, athletes have been remarking all week on the speed and technical difficulty of the 1,400 metre track which features corners nicknamed 50-50 and Shiver.
FIL spokesman Wolfgang Harder said earlier in the week, when Manuel Pfister set the fastest recorded luge speed of 154kph, that future tracks would need to be slowed down to protect the safety of athletes.

Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics. Silve medal for Australia ! !
Begg-Smith wins silver in men’s moguls
Australian Dale Begg-Smith claimed the silver medal in the men’s moguls at the Vancouver Winter Games on Sunday as Canada finally broke their gold-medal duck on home soil.
Alexandre Bilodeau became the first Canadian to win an Olympic gold medal at home, after the host nation had failed to top the podium at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal and the 1988 Winter Games in Calgary.
Bilodeau compiled a winning score of 26.75 points.
Defending champion Begg-Smith was second with 26.58, making him only the third Australian after short-track speedskater Steven Bradbury and aerial skier Alisa Camplin to win two Winter Olympics medals.
Begg-Smith, 25, had been a red-hot favourite going into these Games after taking out three World Cup events and finishing second in two others in the lead-up.
He qualified in fourth place in the final on Sunday.
Begg-Smith was in the gold-medal position until he was bettered by Bilodeau, who skied second-last of 20 competitors in the final at Cypress Mountain.
American Bryon Wilson claimed the bronze medal.
The other Australian entrant, Ramone Cooper, was 27th overall in qualifying and failed to advance to the final.
Begg-Smith’s silver medal capped a remarkable rehabilitation for the millionaire internet businessman, who had blown out his knee in January 2009 while competing at a World Cup event in Deer Valley.
He spent two weeks in an intensive training camp in Australia in September, skiing in the morning and going to the gym in the afternoons.
”I skied the way I wanted to ski and that’s all I can control,” said Begg-Smith, whose haul of one gold and one silver make him Australia’s most successful-ever Winter Olympian ahead of Bradbury and Camplin, who each won one gold and one bronze.
”There was a lot of good runs today and it just depends on the day.
”I think it’s great that Canada won gold and the crowd was really happy with it and they went crazy.
”We’re all here to put on a show and I think they enjoyed what they saw.
”Everybody skied well and the crowd was really good.
”They were on top of me but that gives everyone motivation to go a little faster and a little bigger.
”I definitely didn’t want to make any mistakes with everybody watching me tonight.”
